Seven Reappointed to Tennessee State Election Commission

The seven members of the State Election Commission were recently reappointed for another term. They will serve until May 2015.

The State Election Commission is responsible for appointing five county election commissioners for every county in the state and monitoring the activities and performance of the county election commissions. The state election commissioners are:

To be eligible to serve on the State Election Commission, a person must be at least 25 years old, a resident of this state for at least seven years and a resident of the grand division of the state from which he or she seeks appointment for at least four years preceding appointment.

“All of these members have served with integrity and I am confident that this next term will not be an exception,” said Secretary of State Tre Hargett. “They are hard working and will ensure that we have fair and impartial elections.”
