3/20/2010 On or about this date, the County Election Commission shall lock the absentee ballot boxes. Two election commissioners, one from each party, shall each separately place one lock on the ballot boxes and shall personally retain the keys for the locks. Each of the two commissioners of different parties shall attach numbered seals, and record the numbers of the seals on a certification document. Commissioners shall sign the ballot box certification document and create a duplicate copy. (The original document is mailed to the state coordinator of elections and the duplicate copy is retained by the county election office.) (TCA § 2-6-311) May
3/20/2010 By this date special write-in absentee ballots must be mailed to members of armed forces, their spouses, and citizens temporarily outside the United States. If prepared, the official absentee ballot may be used. (TCA § 2-6-503) May
3/20/2010 Last day to publish notice to voters with a disability and elderly voters in inaccessible precincts that they have the right to come to the County Election Commission Office to vote, either during the period established for early voting or on election day. The notice shall advise any voter with a disability who will be voting for the first time pursuant to this provision to provide the commission with written notice by April 24, 2010, of his her intention to vote at the commission office on election day. 4/14/2010 First day a hospitalized voter may request the services of an emergency registrar to vote an absentee ballot. Voters hospitalized this date, or until the time set for opening the polls on election day, may request to be voted by emergency registrars by calling the County Election Commission Office. 4/19/2010 First day the County Election Commission may appoint a hospital administrator as an emergency registrar for any person who is a patient in that hospital due to an emergency. (TCA § 2-6-401(a)(2)) May
4/19/2010 On or about this date, the County Election Commission must notify the county executive committee chairpersons for political parties, independent candidates, and the press when and where the voting machines will be examined before election day. Prior to the examination, voting machine technicians shall certify that the machines are in working order as required. After the examination, political parties and technicians shall certify machines. 5/4/2010 The County Election Commission shall furnish each polling place with a certified copy of a complete alphabetical list of its absentee and early voters in the May primary, and the copy shall be displayed at the polling place throughout voting hours. (TCA § 2-6-301(c)) May
